In alignment with the Florida Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education’s National Call to Action, Interstate Commercial Driving School (ICDS) affirms our commitment to transparent educational practices, rigorous technical training, and direct service to Florida’s commercial transportation workforce. As an institution licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education (License #4646) and registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), we uphold the highest standards of safety, merit, and public accountability.
1. Merit-Based, Transparent Admissions
ICDS maintains an open, objective, and merit-based admissions process free from ideological or discriminatory preferences. Admissions qualifications are strictly tied to commercial transportation safety and regulatory eligibility mandated by federal and state law (including valid licensing, Motor Vehicle Record standards, FMCSA/DOT physical qualifications, and mandatory drug screening). Every applicant is evaluated solely by their ability to meet the statutory qualifications of a professional commercial driver.
2. Academic Rigor, Assessment Integrity, and In-Person Instructional Delivery
Commercial driver training directly affects public safety on Florida’s highways. In response to growing concerns over credential inflation, automated shortcuts, and unmonitored digital testing across higher education, Interstate Commercial Driving School (ICDS) maintains an uncompromising standard of in-person, instructor-led training:
- Zero Online Theory / Proctored Classroom Delivery: ICDS does not offer or accept third-party online Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory courses. All mandatory curriculum units (49 CFR Part 380) are taught directly by certified instructors inside our physical classrooms and on our training range.
- Elimination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Shortcuts: All knowledge assessments, chapter quizzes, and final examinations are administered in person under direct instructor proctoring. Trainees cannot utilize generative AI tools, automated test-taking programs, or digital proxies to bypass authentic comprehension of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Proprietary Supplementary Media: Digital aids are strictly limited to school-produced audiovisual demonstrations (such as our official pre-trip inspection videos on YouTube), which serve solely as visual reinforcement for hands-on, practical execution. They do not substitute for direct instructional hours, classroom attendance, or supervised vehicle operation.
- Objective, Uncompromised Proficiency Standards: In strict compliance with state and federal testing mandates, trainees must earn a minimum score of 80 percent on proctored written examinations, demonstrate thorough visual inspections, and demonstrate independent mastery of all backing maneuvers and on-road safety operations before receiving a course completion diploma or testing endorsement.

- Zero Tolerance for Disruption: In accordance with our Student Conduct Rules, ICDS strictly prohibits any behavior, harassment, or organized activity that disrupts classroom instruction, yard maneuvers, or on-road training operations.
